ABOUT US

AWARDS

St. Hugo is synonymous with exceptional quality, and we're not the only ones who think so - with every vintage honoured with Gold medals since 1980. The quality of our wines speak for themselves when poured in your glass.

St Hugo has built a legacy crafting fine wines from two of Australia's critically acclaimed winemaking regions; the Barossa and Coonawarra. Both of these individually unique sites have earned reputations for producing some of the world's finest wines and we are renowned for consistently producing this definitive wine style. The St Hugo house style is about crafting wines with a balance of both power and elegance.

Our Barossa and Coonawarra wines are crafted to express power (dark fruit, bold, rich, structured, earthy, more robust wines, higher in tannins.) and elegance (perfumed, red-fruited, fine tannins, softer, delicate, rounded wines that are more fruit-forward.)

OUR STORY

St Hugo is a story of legacy and reinvention, our team honour the traditions of winemaking legend Hugo Gramp. Grandson of pioneering vigneron Johann Gramp and founder of Gramp & Sons winery in 1847. Bringing his historical vision of not only the brand but the Barossa into the modern world.

St Hugo pays tribute to its namesake Hugo, and each vintage we make is in celebration of his love of the land he grew up on, from our first vintage in 1980. The St Hugo wines showcase deep respect for the grapes grown on our sites by turning them into wines with structure, power and elegance. The wines are crafted to be part of your celebrations with loved ones all over the world – from our vineyards to your table.

OUR WINEMAKER

Appointed to the prestigious role of Chief Winemaker in 2019 and with more than 20 years of winemaking experience, Peter Munro has taken up the mantle of continuing the Gramp family legacy. He has honed his craft in some of the world's most prominent wine regions including the Barossa Valley, Hawke's Bay and Napa Valley. "My passion is to create outstanding fine wines that excite the palate, wines to be enjoyed and interpreted over time. A good wine should be an imaginative and poetic reflection of its origin."

It is Peter's experience and love of wine that shines through with each new vintage of St. Hugo, and we hope you love drinking them as much as he loves making them.

CELLAR DOOR

While the Coonawarra might be the soul of our first wine, our home and heart have always been the Barossa. In the place where Hugo lived and worked his whole life is where our Cellar Door resides.

Built in 1850, Hugo's Courtyard is the first step in your immersive sensory experience at St. Hugo. To taste and experience the wines surrounded by his beloved vineyards.
