PETER MUNRO, CHIEF WINEMAKER

With more than 20 years of winemaking experience, Peter Munro’s career has spanned some of the world’s most prominent wine regions including the Barossa Valley, Tasmania, Hawke’s Bay and Napa Valley.

“My passion is to create outstanding fine wines that excite the palate, wines to be enjoyed and interpreted over time. A good wine should be an imaginative and poetic reflection of its origin.”

Peter was appointed Chief Winemaker in March 2019. He will continue to craft St Hugo wines that are the best possible expression of each vintage, wines that powerful and elegant.

"Vintage ‘21 is shaping up as one to remember. Lots can still happen before we harvest the grapes, and mother nature could turn mean, but presently things are lining up nicely. The Barossa Shiraz has intense bright fruit flavours early, with some blocks likely to be picked in the second half of February. Coonawarra, as always, is further behind, with the Cabernet currently going through veraison. All looks promising; all fingers remain crossed.”
