Private Collection Rowland Flat Shiraz 2014
Barossa Shiraz at its finest, showcasing distinctive sub-regional characteristics of fruit selected from ancient vines near the heart of St Hugo Estate. Dark and brooding, there is immediacy of appeal, but also the potential for effortless aging.
Colour: Dark brick red
Aroma: Brooding dark, coco and spice with typical sub-regional characters of peat, smallgoods and clove, overlayed with subtle red liquorice and floral notes.
Taste: Even and dense tannins support rich dark fruits, with savoury overtones.
Enjoy With: Beef and oyster pie with soubise sauce.
Cellaring Potential: Magnificent drinking now, but will reward medium-term cellaring. 2019-2031
Vineyard: The old vine vineyard: in excess of 90 years old, selected for this wine is found towards the southern end of the Barossa and is subject to unique cooling gully breezes. This results in lower night time temperatures that lend distinctive clove, peat and spice notes to the wine. The old vines are maintained using traditional methods, allowing for consistent ripening that endows the wine with smooth and velvety tannins.
