Vineyards
The Seppeltsfield area on the western slopes of the Barossa has long been known to produce outstanding
wines. The intensity, depth and brightness of the flavour profile are hallmarks of this sub-region and result from the gentle rolling hills and soil structure that is ideal for growing well-balanced vines.
Vintage Conditions
2012 was one of the great vintages in the Barossa, with the weather close to perfect. Ideal rain in winter,
spring and early summer led into magnificent extended autumn, which produced premium fruit with
outstanding natural flavour.
Winemaking
The wine was fermented in a square open fermenter of classic proportion before being bag pressed to deliver a plusher style that is generous and full flavoured. The wine spent 19 months in 70% new French oak and 30% three-year-old American oak. Careful management of malolactic fermentation, racking and returning the wine from oak and the final blending and bottling was essential to maintain the purity and style of this wine.
